Sue Sugarman, MSW, LCSW-R, BCD, is a licensed clinical social worker with a rich background of over 25 years dedicated to working with children, adolescents, and families. Sue also has a subspecialty in working with youth athletes. She played a pivotal role in co-authoring the inaugural master's-level course in social work focused on the mental health of athletes. Since the spring of 2022, she has been imparting her expertise through the course "An Introduction to Mental Health in Athletes and Clinical Social Work" at NYU Silver School of Social Work. When collaborating with athletes, Sue places a strong emphasis on cultivating a high-performance mindset, recognizing its potential to be the defining factor between success and failure. This mental skill set encompasses goal setting, diligence in training, sustained motivation, and maintaining a positive outlook in the face of challenges or unmet expectations—all crucial components for fostering resilience.
